Later public Forge mechanics make several phrases materially less ambiguous than they were on Aug 8:

• patience corresponds to the Patience input shown by the later Forge;
• quiet forge corresponds to the later TWPOT Forge;
• leaf corresponds to the TABOSHI leaf used by the Forge;
• let old forms fade is consistent with the later explicit rule that TABOSHI used in the Forge is permanently burned.

Those later facts do not resolve every line. The meanings of ancient flame, ember, rune, waters, the sleeping spell, and exactly what waits beyond remain unresolved and should not be filled in by hindsight.
